Basu Paribar Review: Basu Paribar is about a bonedi poribar — its dying house, declining male centric society, broken pride and that quintessential exertion, however pointless, to brush its mysteries away from plain view. From Soumitra-Aparna juti on screen and an intricate family dramatization, the kind of a scattered joint family — the film checks practically all the cases that a Bangali cinegoer would request. All it required was a touch of soul. 

It is the 50th marriage commemoration of Pranab (Soumitra Chatterjee), the patriarch of the family, and Manjari (Aparna Sen), the arranged, world class, Presidency-taught housewife of Basu Paribar.
